COST:  $6 for Members, $12 for Non-Members

PLACE:   Location Change: UW System Administration, 780 Regent Street, Room 126.

MENU:  Lunch will be ordered from Panera.

  • Frontega Chicken Panini (warm) Focaccia bread, smoked pulled chicken, fresh mozzarella, basil, red onions, sliced tomatoes, chipotle mayo
  • Bacon Turkey Bravo Sandwich (cold) Tomato basil bread, bacon, turkey, gouda cheese, greens, sliced tomatoes, signature sauce
  •  Steak & Arugula Sandwich (cold)  Steak, pickled onions, arugula, sliced tomatoes, garlic & herb cheese spread, mustard horseradish
  • Four Cheese Grilled Cheese Country rustic bread with grilled cheese blend of cheeses. Can add sliced tomatoes, red onion, mayo, and/or spinach.
  • Please select one sandwich from the items above. If you want something added/deleted, please include that information in your reply. We will have French fries, chips, and soda to go with the meal. I would like to place the order Wednesday evening, so please reply with your new meal choice before 5 p.m. on Wednesday, October 31.

About this Month’s Speaker

Mr. Cory Fish serves as Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce’s (WMC) Director of Tax, Transportation and Legal Affairs.

Prior to joining WMC, Mr. Fish worked for the State of Wisconsin.

Most recently he worked for State Senator Alberta Darling, Co-Chair of the powerful Joint Committee on Finance, serving as her Legal Counsel.

He also advised Sen. Darling on budget and policy issues ranging from higher education and regulatory reform to natural resources and transportation.

Mr. Fish works with the legislature and state agencies to improve Wisconsin’s business climate by advocating for sensible tax policies, strong infrastructure, and a fair civil justice system.

Mr. Fish earned a B.A. from UW-Eau Claire, Summa Cum Laude, and a J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School, where he graduated Cum Laude. He is a licensed attorney in Wisconsin.

February 2018 Luncheon Speaker

Mr. Daniel Stephans Biography:

Within the State of Wisconsin, Department of Administration (DOA), positions held include Chief State Architect, Construction Project Manager, Team Leader, Supervisor, Architectural Technical Services Section-Section Chief, and DOA’s Historic Preservation Officer.

He was the ranking architect at DOA and, by statute, a non-voting member of the State of Wisconsin Building Commission. He was directly involved with policy development and management of architectural activity associated with the State Building Program. He provided architectural services and architectural consulting services to state agencies, consultants, and other Division staff in addition to managing outside A/E contracts providing those services to the Division of Facilities Development. Directly supervised 12 staff members who were architects, engineers, and architectural technical specialists.

He provided design direction to outside professional consultants. He contributed to the determination of the level of quality of general construction in state facilities, administered A/E and consultant contracts, and managed the architectural design and construction approved as part of the State Building Program. Supervised in-house architects and professional engineers and managed multiple outside engineers and architects providing services to the state. After 25 years of service to the State of Wisconsin, he retired on June 25, 2015.

Sara Loose, a senior accountant with Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP, has been with the firm since January 2015.Sara Specializes in providing accounting and tax services to construction and real estate clients. Sara received her Masters of Professional Accountancy from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

ABOUT THIS MONTH’S SPEAKER

Lieutenant Mike Hanson

Mike Hanson is a Patrol Operations Lieutenant with the Madison Police Department.  Throughout his 16 years of service, he has had various positions including neighborhood Officer, Public Information Officer, Patrol Sergeant, Training Sergeant and Commander of the Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS).  The UAS program began in early 2017 as Mike built the team with a wide range of teammate talent.  Mike has an undergraduate degree in Public Relations and a master’s degree in Human Resource Management.
